Coming together in community, we explore how to live in peace and harmony.
Ursula Le Guin’s classic novel explores the possibilities of a society founded on freedom, equality and vitality. The main character is a physicist who finds himself becoming a revolutionary in a society that seems to believe that the revolution has already happened and no other changes are needed. Le Guin’s writing is poetic and profoundly wise, inspired particularly by Taoist, Buddhist, Anarchist and Native American traditions.
Those who wish to join this reading circle are invited to read The Dispossesed (available from our online bookshop here) and join in contemplation of how this great novel may help inspire our own lives.
The space will be held by Vishwam who is a dedicated student of Ursula Le Guin - he’s read The Dispossessed 6 or 7 times and also most of her other books. The session will open with relaxation practice to help us all feel connected with ourselves and open to listening to each other. The discussions will be open-hearted and friendly.
