On this day, we honour the 93rd anniversary of the birth of the great poet, storyteller, wisdom teacher and spiritual guide Ursula K. Le Guin. Although most of her books were set on different planets, her life’s work can be read as beautiful guides to living a good life here on Earth. Influenced by a lifelong fascination with the Tao Te Ching, her dedicated interest in Buddhist and Native Nations cultures and wisdom teachings, her passion for social and ecological justice & her love of life, Ursula K. Le Guin was a unique and special being.
Her work has been, and continues to be, a major inspiration and influence for Flowing with Life. For example, our ongoing series of heart meditation and creative writing courses, A Wave in the Heart, takes its title from Le Guin’s beautiful book of essays A Wave in the Mind. You can also see her influence in Vishwam’s essays including Who’s Afraid of Gender Anarchy? and Where Power Lies.
If Ursula Le Guin has touched your heart, or if you’re now curious to find out more, you’re warmly welcome to join our FREE live online event. All Welcome! Registration required.
We will have a limited number of ‘open mike’ spaces for those who wish to share a short reading from Ursula Le Guin’s work and perhaps offer a few words of how it has touched your heart or helped your life in some way.
The event will be hosted by Vishwam.
